MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says he’s “comfortable” with a request not to spend more than $20 million on the remaining bills in the two-year session that’s about to end.
Republican Governor Scott Walker has asked lawmakers to limit their spending in the final weeks, after being told that the state would have a smaller surplus than projected.
Vos says the current budget period would still end with a “sizable surplus,” even if the entire $20 million is spent.
Walker’s recent college affordability plan would cost around $6 million.
The Republican Vos says that, plus some mental health care measures, would still cost “signficantly” less than the targeted figure.
