STORM LAKE, IA (WTAQ) – Two men charged in last month’s killing of a five year old Beloit boy are jailed in Iowa, with blizzard conditions stalling their transfer to Wisconsin.
Storm Lake Police say Sergio Ortiz-Raygoza and Eric Salazar-Mota were arrested Sunday after their car was stopped.
The two appeared before a judge Monday and waived extradition. But blizzard conditions have closed roads, businesses and some public facilities, so transfer back to Wisconsin will have to wait.
Authorities in Rock County says Ortiz-Raygoza, Salazar-Mota, Isaac Torres and Hugo Martinez were responsible for the death of 5-year-old Austin Ramos, Jr. in a drive-by shooting January 22nd.
The boy’s father was targeted as part of a rival street gang, and in retaliation for a killing last year in Beloit.
