GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Three local police agencies are teaming up with an area grocery store chain for the 4th annual Fill the Squad food drive.
The campaign takes place Friday, December 23 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Pick N’ Save grocery stores in Green Bay, Ashwaubenon, and Bellevue.
Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith says this is a great way to give back to the community.
“All people really need to do, is go in there and grab one of the pre-packaged essential food packs and turn it over to the officers that are there.”
You can purchase bags of food for around $10 inside the store.
Police say the food collected will benefit local families and have an impact close to home and will be delivered the same day.
“We bring it over to the NEW Community Shelter. We’ve been a partner with them for many years. They do terrific work with some of our most needy people,” said Smith.
This is a high demand time for food pantries, with many short on supplies.
The shelter’s meals program serves over 125-thousand meals to families each year.
