UNDATED (WSAU) – The two teenage defendants in the Slender Man stabbing will get separate trials. Waukesha County Judge Michael Bohren announced the decision on Monday.
14-year-old Morgan Geyser and 15-year-old Anissa Weier were both 12 when they allegedly stabbed a middle school classmate in homage to the fictional character Slender Man. The victim survived the attack, was able to crawl to a road, and got help from a passing cyclist.
Prosecutors and lawyers for both defendants had agreed that there could be legal complications from a joint trial.
Geyser and Weier are each charged with first degree attempted homicide. Both entered not guilty pleas by reason of mental disease or defect. They’ve been denied bond while awaiting trial.
Both are being tried as adults.
