GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay police officer was able to save a man’s life this week after the department provided Narcan training last week.
The Green Bay P.D. partnered with St. Vincent Hospital to provide Narcan training to its patrol officers in an effort to address the increase in opioid-related overdoses.
Narcan is an emergency treatment that can be administered with an intranasal auto-injector to someone who has overdosed on heroin or other opioids.
Police were called on Tuesday to a west side parking lot for a report of a possible heroin overdose.
Upon arrival, Officer Mallory Meves found a 23-year-old man unconscious in a vehicle. She quickly recognized the signs of drug use and administered Narcan.
The man was then rushed to a hospital where he’s expected to make a full recovery.
