BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Residents in Brown County are getting several chances to get their flu shot from community prevention clinics in Green Bay and De Pere.
Health officials say the vaccine is recommended for all people 6 months and older. Certain people are at higher risk of complications from the flu. Those people include children age 6 months to 18 years, pregnant women, people 50 years or older, anyone with chronic medical conditions and people who live in nursing homes.
Symptoms of influenza illness include fever, headache, non-productive cough, sore throat and runny nose. Other complications could include pneumonia, ear infections or sinus infections. People who have underlying medical conditions are at greater risk to these complications.
Brown County and De Pere Health Departments will each be offering community flu prevention clinics at both health department offices in addition to their regularly scheduled appointments.
- Brown County Health Department — October 14 (3:30-5:30 p.m.), October 16 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.) and October 30 (9 a.m.-3 p.m.). *Ages 6 months through 18 years, walk-in basis, no appointment needed.
- City of De Pere Health Department — October 1 (3:30-6 p.m.), October 6 (3:30-6 p.m.), October 15 (3:30-6 p.m.), October 22 (3:30-6 p.m.) and October 26 (3:30-6 p.m.). *Please call for appointments.
For all of the clinics listed above, vaccine will be provided to children through 18 years of age at no charge, regardless of insurance status. There will be a $30 fee for the vaccine for adults 19 years and older.
