The Packers placed seven players on waivers and officially moved Jordy Nelson to the season ending injured reserve list to reach the NFL roster limit of 75 players on Tuesday. Nelson was lost for the year after tearing his ACL two weeks ago in Pittsburgh. Two of the players cut actually practiced with the team Tuesday afternoon and then turned in their playbooks. One was former UW-Whitewater quarterback Matt Blanchard. This was the third different team Blanchard has tried out for without success following earlier stints with Carolina and Chicago. Also waived after practcice was tight end Harold Spears who was with New Orleans in camp last year. General Manager Ted Thompson also announced the release of wide receivers Javess Blue, Jimmie Hunt and James Butler who was signed just last week. Safety Kyle Sebetic was cut, likely after the former Kenosha Tremper High School product reached an injury settlement. The only player with the team last year to get released was linebacker Adrian Hubbard. He joined the Pack as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama in 2014, got released but came back on the pracice squad. Following the Pack’s final pre-season game against New Orleans Thursday night, the roster must be down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon.
