UNDATED (WSAU-Wheeler News) Governor Scott Walker’s office says he’ll keep trying to attract good-paying jobs and improve state government as his approval rating keeps dropping among Wisconsinites. A new Marquette Law School poll released yesterday gives the Republican Walker 37-percent approval, two points lower than his all-time low of 39-percent in August. The new poll was taken after Walker left the presidential race when he said that a smaller Republican field would have a better chance of knocking Donald Trump out of the race.
Meanwhile, Trump’s support in Wisconsin has more than doubled since then. He now leads the G-O-P presidential field in the Marquette poll with 20-percent, up from nine-percent in August. Ben Carson is now second in the state at 16-percent.
The Marquette poll also showed that 62-percent do not Walker to seek a third term as governor in 2018. But almost four-of-every five Republicans surveyed want him to run again.
