WAUSAU, WI (WTAQ) – A former Wisconsin Assembly Democrat will try to win her old job back, after losing by just four-tenths of one percent last November.
Mandy Wright became an official candidate Sunday night, when she announced her bid to about 100 people at Wausau’s old train depot.
Wright told supporters a month ago she’d try to take back the 85th District Assembly seat next November. After serving just one two-year term, Wright lost to Republican Dave Heaton by 85 votes out of 22,000 cast.
Wright blamed her defeat at the time on what she called a false last minute ad blitz from a group that supports private school vouchers for low income kids. The group called it sour grapes.
Now, Wright says she’ll try again to prevent local public schools from losing state funds to private schools — and she’ll take her time to get her message out, so voters can base their choices on “real discussion” and not last minute campaign ads.
