MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) — Governor Scott Walker’s budget proposal to cut and change the state’s popular SeniorCare program will not be in the final state budget.
Fellow Republicans controlling the Joint Finance Committee will not support the cuts. Co-chairman John Nygren told reporters before the meeting that he and fellow Republicans will vote to leave the program unchanged and that Wisconsin’s senior citizens like the simplicity of the program compared to the federal Medicare Part D plan.
Some Democrats are speaking up saying the Republicans are making the right move by leaving SeniorCare alone, including Milton area Representative Andy Jorgensen.
