WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) – He was caught by a K9 officer. A Waukesha father of four children has been arrested and charged with importing large quantities of marijuana.
Investigators say 35-year-old Timothy Phoneprasith used UPS to bring the drugs in from the West Coast. If he is convicted, he could get more than 9 years in prison.
A drug-sniffing dog had hit on a package at the Elm Grove UPS distribution center earlier this year. Despite an effort to use sheet metal plates to shield the product, the dog sniffed out almost 10 pounds of pot.
The discovery turned the focus on Phoneprasith. Investigators say he told them there was a man who paid him about $500 for every package which came from California.
DEA agents and others are trying to find out who sent the marijuana.
