WAUTOMA, WI (WTAQ) – Warm weather and dry conditions fueled wildfires in central Wisconsin’s Juneau County Saturday.
Three houses and three outbuildings were destroyed. The Department of Natural Resources says the buildings were all used for storage and nobody lived in them.
A wildfire in Waushara County forced the evacuation of about 15 houses, burning around 50 acres of forest and swamp land. The burning grass and brush fire was contained at about 5:15 p.m.
There were smaller wildfires in Menominee, Richland and Taylor counties.
The fire danger for the entire state was rated high or very high due to the conditions. None of the fires caused any injuries.
