BARABOO, WI (WTAQ) – The family of a Michigan teenager is suing a Wisconsin Dells waterpark resort, saying the boy was injured on a ride that the business knew was not safe.
The lawsuit was filed this week in Sauk County Circuit Court against the Kalahari resort.
It said the boy was hurt in June of 2012 when riding the “Sahara Sidewinders” — an indoor ride that drops people from a trapdoor chamber into one of two looping water slides.
The family’s laywer, Brian Hodgkiss of Appleton, wrote that the ride posed an unreasonable risk of injury — and that the business knew it, but took no safety precautions.
Kalahari added the ride to its indoor waterpark in 2011. The lawsuit seeks damages for medical expenses, injury-related compensation, and pain and suffering.
