MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Milwaukee has recorded four more homicides since the start of the weekend.
That brings the total for the year to 74 — twice the number of killings at this time a year ago.
The latest murder was reported about 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Milwaukee County medical examiner’s office said a male victim was killed in a north side neighborhood.
Three other homicides were reported over the weekend. Police said a 21-year-old man was shot Saturday night in his vehicle, while trying to drive away from a drug deal gone sour.
Also on Saturday night, 41-year-old Noble Walton was found unconscious in a north side alley.
And a 44-year-old woman was killed while standing outside her home as gunfire came from nearby. Police said they’re not sure if the woman was the intended target.
Officers were still seeking suspects in all 3 weekend homicides.
A number of community groups have been condemning the killings in Milwaukee. The latest is the Sojourner Family Peace Center. Director Carmen Pitre said the slayings are “excruciating” for families, and the community is robbed of a murdered person’s potential.
