GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A fire Thursday at Georgia-Pacific’s Broadway Mill in Green Bay causes five people to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire was in a wall near a machine which makes nonwoven fiber products, according to a spokesperson for Georgia-Pacific.
The mill’s fire brigade responded, but a call was also made to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
Officials say the area of the mill where the blaze happened was in the process of being demolished. There was no production going on in that area, and the company says it won’t need to be repaired.
Four people treated for smoke inhalation were Georgia-Pacific contractors working on the demolition. They have returned to the job site, while a fifth was a firefighter who was treated and released from the hospital.
