MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – It won’t be long until Governor Scott Walker can be on the campaign trail and say he’s not a candidate for president.
The Washington news Web site Politico was the first to report the Republican Walker would file candidacy papers Thursday with the Federal Election Commission.
Wis Politics.Com said Walker has reserved the Waukesha County Expo Center for July 13th, the date that’s been speculated for his becoming the 15th major GOP candidate for the White House.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel quoted a Walker aide as saying he’s heard from “countless Americans” since he started his “Testing the Waters” phase a few weeks ago.
The Journal Sentinel also said Walker would unveil the “first of nine pieces” of his campaign logo tonight on Instagram.
Walker must become a candidate before he can be admitted into the GOP’s presidential debates — the first of which is almost a month away.
