MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – A suburban Milwaukee man was sentenced Monday to five years in prison, for hiding the body of his ex-girlfriend.
41-year-old Gregory Prey of Cudahy pleaded guilty in Milwaukee County to a charge of hiding a corpse. Besides the prison time, Prey must spend five years under extended supervision.
The mummified body of 50-year-old Peggy Pamperin was found last August at her apartment in Cudahy.
Prey told police that his ex-girlfriend became badly ill, and she died in her apartment in early June. He refused to call the police, saying he was under a court order to stay away from Pamperin as the result of earlier domestic violence.
By the time the body was found, officials said it was badly decomposed. As a result, prosecutors said the cause and manner of Pamperin’s death could not be determined.
Neighbors alerted police after noticing an odor from the woman’s apartment.
