GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Police Department has released the names of the officers involved in a fatal shooting this week on Plymouth Lane.
According to a release, 24-year-old Officer Matthew Dunn was stabbed in the arm by Joseph Biegert. 28-year-old Officer Brian Krueger was also injured in the scuffle inside Biegert’s apartment in the 1500 block of Plymouth Lane Tuesday night.
The two officers responded around 7:30 p.m. for a report that Biegert had taken an unknown amount of medication in an attempt to harm himself. Biegert stabbed Dunn with a knife, police say, and then both officers shot him.
Biegert was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both officers were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
Dunn has been with the Green Bay Police Department for 2 years and Krueger for 5 years. Both officers have been reassigned to administrative duty while the incident is investigated.
In accordance with state law, the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.
