MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Milwaukee’s Miller Brewing Company is losing its CEO.
The joint venture of MillerCoors said Tuesday morning that Tom Long will retire at the end of June.
The firm’s board of directors accepted Long’s decision, and a search is underway for his successor.
The 56-year-old Long joined Miller as its chief marketing officer in 2005, and became president of the Milwaukee brewing giant in ’06. Two years later, Miller and Coors combined their U.S. operations, and Long became the president and chief commercial officer.
He had been the CEO since 2011. Board chairman Pete Coors had high praise for Long, saying that MillerCoors achieved consistent profit growth, pricing growth, and cost savings at a time of changing dynamics in the global beverage industry.
Coors also said Long made dramatic improvements in areas like innovation, beer knowledge, revenue management, and chain sales.
Miller is owned by SAB of South Africa. Coors is owned by the Molson-Coors Brewing Company.
