MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU-Wheeler News) — Milwaukee closer Francisco Rodriguez blew a save for the first time in 35 chances as the Cincinnati Reds scored four times in the ninth to come-from-behind 12-9.
Joey Votto’s 25th home run was the big blow. It came with a man on, then two more runs scored on a passed ball and an R-B-I single as the Reds won for just the second time in the last 15 games. Scooter Gennett was four-for-five with three runs batted in for the Brewers. They had fallen behind 6-1, then rallied to take a 9-8 lead. Milwaukee starter Matt Garza gave up seven runs and 11 hits in three-and-two-thirds innings.
The two teams meet at Miller Park this afternoon at 1:10 pm to play the rubber game of the series. Rookie John Lamb is still looking for his first major league win as a Red. The Brewers will send hard-throwing right-hander Wily Peralta out in the series finale.
