KENOSHA, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) The Kenosha Police Department suspended one of its officers after surveillance cameras caught him shoving a man to the ground. Footage from January shows the man hit his head on the sidewalk and the officer did not call for an ambulance. The police chief said the man never sent in a complaint.
A police supervisor spotted the incident while reviewing another case and launched an internal review of Officer Peter Bisciglia. The department suspended Bisciglia for 60 days after an investigation.
Former Kenosha Alderman Kevin Mathewson says he thinks the officer should have been fired, because he used excessive force, and lied in the police report. Police were called to a store because the owner said an employee caught a man trying to shoplift. The man refused to put the item back. Owner Sam Ali said then the man refused to leave and argued with Bisciglia when he arrived. Bisciglia described the scene as chaotic.
The internal review found the report to be inaccurate, untruthful and incomplete.
