Green Bay, WI (WNFL) – Tuesday’s brawl between the Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Rams is one of the reasons why the Green Bay Packers are not interested in joint training camp workouts. General Manager Ted Thompson doesn’t like it when his own players hit each other in practice, so he definitely doesn’t want his players being hit by other teams. Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters today that at least one team has contacted him about joint practices. McCarthy said, “Our situation is unique in the fact we would never take the team out of Green Bay, so that’s one factor.” McCarthy said the Packers use eight practices just for installation of their offense and defense and then they transition into in-season practices. He said it’s great work and he’s been part of teams in the past that did it, but it just doesn’t work for the Packers.
