POLK COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – An armed 14-year-old boy is under arrest for a crime spree in western Wisconsin.
Polk County Sheriff Pete Johnson says the youngster crashed a vehicle about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday while officers were chasing him in Forest Lake Minnesota. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, and will then be sent to the Anoka County Regional Juvenile Center.
It ended a 15-hour search for a series of incidents that began Monday afternoon. That was when the teen had an undisclosed type of encounter with officers in Eau Claire County.
Officials say he later stole a vehicle, tried busting into a home near Woodville, got into a police chase near Star Prairie, dumped the first vehicle and ran off before stealing a second vehicle.
Gunshots were reportedly fired as officers tried finding the teen.
