ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ) – An event near Green Bay Sunday raised awareness about missing persons.
A makeshift wall was set up at Heritage Hill State Park, which had photos of numerous people who have long disappeared — and no one has come forward to say where they might be.
Marsha Loritz organized the event after her mother, Victoria Prokopovitz of Pittsfield, vanished two years ago from her home. She told FOX 11 she feels helpless, because there’s nothing she can to do to help find her mother.
The event was designed to give families of the missing a voice, and to remind us that those people will never be forgotten.
Brenda Lefeber spoke in honor of her brother, Steve Woelfel. She said he’s been missing since June 7th of 2004.
According to the Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children and Adults, about 1,000 people in the state were missing as of last November. Almost 700 were children.
