MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – A second Republican plans to run for a Wisconsin Senate seat that will be open later this year.
Law enforcement trainer Brian Dorow said Monday he would run for the Senate post to be given up by Republican Paul Farrow of Pewaukee.
Assembly Republican Chris Kapenga of Delafield announced his bid for the seat earlier.
Farrow was recently elected as the Waukesha County executive, and he plans to hold both that job and the Senate seat until the next state budget is finalized in June.
Dorow is an associate dean at Waukesha County Technical College, where he provides police training to current and prospective officers.
Governor Scott Walker will announce the date for the special Senate election after Farrow resigns.
The Waukesha County Senate district is heavily Republican. The GOP has a 19-14 majority in the upper house.
