The Milwaukee Brewers eight game winning streak ended at Wrigley Field Thursday night as the Chicago Cubs pitched a 1-0 shutout in the first of the four game series.
Kyle Hendricks and two relievers combined on a six hitter. Hendricks allowed four hits over seven innings and the Brewers never got a runner to third base.
Kyle Schwarber touched all four bases when he launched a solo home run off Chase Anderson in the sixth, the 7th long ball of the season for Schwarber.
Anderson (2-2) took a hard luck loss, allowing just five hits over his seven innings but made the one mistake.
The Brewers are 16-10 overall but just 1-4 against the Cubs this season and now they have been shut out three times by the Chicago pitching staff.
Milwaukee will send Brent Suter to the mound against Yu Darvish Friday afternoon with pre-game coverage beginning at 12:45 on WNFL.
