The Wisconsin TimberRattlers lost their season opening game to the Beloit Snappers on the road Thursday night, 4-3 in 11 innings.
New rules for minor league baseball this year have each extra inning start with a runner on second base and both teams took advantage in the 10th, bunting the runner to third and eventually getting him home. In the 11th, the Rattlers failed to get the free runner in while Beloit’s first at bat bunt was fielded but the throw to first was wild for a game ending error.
The teams meet again Friday night before Wisconsin returns for their home opener on Saturday which is unlikely considering the surprising April snowstorm in these parts.
