The WIAA Boys State Basketball tournament is down to the Sectional Finals with Saturday winners advancing to the championships at the Kohl Center next week. In semifinal games Friday night, the Fox River Classic Conference champion De Pere Redbirds, knocked out Sheboygan North 67-43 behind Adam Beyer's 18 points. De Pere (22-3) moves on to the Division 1 final against the defending state champions, unbeaten and top ranked Germantown Warhawks at 1:00 PM at Mequon Homestead High School. It's a rematch of last year's sectional final, won by Germantown, 57-45. In Division 2, Pulaski beat Semour 45-39 with junior Luke Van Laanen scoring 20 points. The Red Raiders will meet Grafton at 2:30 PM at FonDuLac High School. Hortonville also advanced in D2, beating Rihinelander 50-43. The Polar Bears will top ranked Onalaska in Marshfield at 5:00 PM. In Division 3, the defending sectional champion Brillion Lions held off Wrightstown 55-53. Brillion will meet Little Chute, a 41-40 winner over Appleton Xavier at Ashwaubenon High at 2:00 PM. Berlin defeated Oostburg 58-45 in another D3 semifinal. In Division 4, two area teams were knocked out. Amherst beat Oconto 70-50 and Reedsville upset top seeded Shiocton 55-50. In Division 5, top ranked NEW Lutheran of Green Bay remained unbeaten at 25-0, beating the defending D5 champs, Sheboygan Lutheran 84-62 as Nate Toenjas scored 29 points. The Blazers are seeking their third trip to state in the last four years and will face Niagara in the sectional final in Menasha at 1:00 PM.
