MENOMINEE, Mich. (WTAQ-WLUK) — A judge will issue a written decision on motions in a lawsuit filed by a marijuana dispensary seeking a court order allowing it open, despite objections by the city of Menominee.
Puff Cannabis argues it should have been allowed to open last year, but Menominee did not issue a license as it should have. The city disagrees, saying it followed the proper procedures.
Judge Mary Barglind heard arguments on summary disposition and other motions for more than 2.5 hours Thursday, but did not issue any rulings.
In November, 78% of city residents voted to cap the number of marijuana dispensaries at none. Eight are currently opened. Other firms besides Puff are also seeking a license.
Michigan municipalities share in the tax revenue generated by such stores. In 2025, the city and county of Menominee each received $432,000.
