(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers managed just 4 hits but still got their fourth straight win with a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Saturday.
The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Gary Sanchez double that scored Brice Turang.
The Indians got that run back in the on Josh Naylor’s 27th home run of the season in the fourth inning off of Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta.
William Contreras answered that with a home run to left center field in the bottom half of the fourth inning to put the Brewers back on top.
After that, the 2 teams pitching staffs matched zeros on the scoreboard.
Peralta allowed 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings. He struck out 6 and got the win to improve to 8-7 on the season.
Joel Payamps, Jared Koenigs and Devin Williams each followed with a scoreless inning of relief to nail down the win.
Tanner Bibee took the loss for Cleveland.
The 2 teams conclude the series Sunday afternoon at American Family Field.
