GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — JBS will begin the process of slowly reopening their Packerland meat packing facility on Lime Kiln Road in Green Bay this week.
The JBS Packerland plant in Green Bay has been closed for more than a week amid the outbreak. Final numbers were not available, but as of Friday, Brown County health officials had linked 290 cases to workers. Testing continued over the weekend at the Resch Center.
In an email, a JBS spokesperson told FOX 11 the plan is to reopen harvesting with reduced staff on Tuesday, with harvesting and fabricating on Wednesday. The company says it will test 100% of workers before allowing them to return.
“We expect operations to normalize over time as absenteeism rates decline in response to the preventive measures in place at the facility and as team members clear any necessary quarantine protocols,” wrote Cameron Bruett, JBS head of corporate affairs.
The company did not respond to a question about whether the reopening is in response to President Donald Trump’s action ordering meat plants to remain open.
