GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A man charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl now faces charges for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill the victim and her mother.
A press release with few details was sent out by Ashwaubenon Police on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities remained tight-lipped when WTAQ News inquired about the incident.
“Our press release was pretty vague intentionally. We’re trying to be as cautious as we can for the victims involved,” Lieutenant of Investigations Brian Amenson told WTAQ News, “It’s a solicitation. He sought out somebody to murder the individuals in the case.”
Fox 11 reports that Laene Piontek is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon for two counts of solicitation of first-degree intentional homicide.
According to the criminal complaint, Piontek allegedly offered another inmate in the Brown County jail $20,000 to kill the two.
“(Piontek) said it would be best to look like an accident,” the inmate told police, the complaint states.
Piontek gave descriptions of the two, as well as making diagrams of their residence.
Earlier this month, Piontek was charged with four counts, including two counts of repeated sexual assault of the same child. He allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted the girl over the course of several years.
In that case, he is being held on a $50,000 cash bond, and returns to court July 20 for a preliminary hearing, court records show.
