FREEDOM, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Work began Monday on a new fire station for the Town of Freedom.
The project was a longtime coming.
It was in the planning phase for around six years, with the site purchased 10 years ago.
Freedom Fire Department Chief Mark Green tells FOX 11 they wanted to make sure the community understood the need for the station, before work began.
“We really feel like we overdid it as much as possible, educating the taxpayers to what it was that we were attempting to do, what it was again that we felt we needed in terms of safety and more operational efficiencies.”
Green says he hopes the new station, located on the corner of Schmidt Rd. and County Rd. E, will be completed by the start of 2021.
