MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The number of people hospitalized in Wisconsin with confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to drop.
Hospital data reported on the state Department of Health Services’ website says, as of Tuesday, 275 patients have tested positive for coronavirus. That is down nine from Monday, and down 56 from a week ago. In the Fox Valley region, which saw a rise over the weeked, there are now 22 people hospitalized, down two from Monday.
There are 100 patients receiving intensive care, the same number as on Monday. Another 192 are awaiting their test results.
As far as new cases, the state reports 266 new confirmed cases and 10,883 negative tests on Tuesday. The 2.4% positive rate is down from Monday’s 2.8%. There have now been a total of 23,198 cases of coronavirus and 414,330 negative tests.
Approximately 74%, or 17,122 cases are believed to have recovered. Another 23%, or 5,372 cases are still active.
The state also reported nine new deaths, the most in five days. A total of 703 people in Wisconsin have died since the pandemic began.
Hospitals say they have 1,264 ventilators on hand, with 319 in use, 10 more than on Monday.
