GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – While Hurricane Florence response plans have been announced for agencies like The Red Cross, another local group is waiting for the call to come and help.
Wisconsin Public Service crews have experience in putting downed lines back together and restoring power.
“We’re prepared to assist residents who may have been impacted by Hurricane Florence.”
WPS spokesman Matt Cullen says they’re staying in touch with other utility companies during the hurricane.
WPS will understand in real time what kinds of challenges the southeast is going to face.
“Should we receive that request for assistance. And once we do receive it we will respond immediately.”
But Cullen also says part of any response plan includes making sure things are still covered at home.
“Resources that we do send to assist will not compromise our ability to provide reliable services to our customers here in Wisconsin.”
WPS crews traveled last year to help restore power to Hurricane Irma victims in Florida, and Hurricane Maria victims in Puerto Rico.
