CLINTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ) – People will temporarily be unable to fish at a Waupaca County lake as the DNR is attempting to protect fish populations.
Pigeon Lake in Clintonville will have fish closures that extend upstream to portions of the north and south Pigeon River, while the lake is drawn down for dam repairs.
The draw of the lake is attempting to lower water levels of the lake by 10 feet, which should take another 20 days.
A public meeting at the Clintonville Community Center will take place next Wednesday at 6 PM to discuss the closure.
Officials expect some fish will stay in the remaining river channel or move upstream into Pigeon River, while a number of them will be flushed downstream.
Some fish may become easily susceptible to anglers if they remain in the river channel and become concentrated.
Fish should be able to recolonize Pigeon Lake after it is refilled, because of the temporary hold in fishing.
