MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) — Governor Scott Walker while at his Marathon County stop on his primary bus tour discussed his reaction to the release of former Corrections Secretary Ed Wall’s tell-all book.
Released today, Wall’s book “Unethical: Life in Scott Walker’s Cabinet and the Dirty Side of Politics” accuses Governor Walker and Attorney General Brad Schimel of driving him to the brink of suicide when he was fired in 2016. Walker finds the content of the book to be disappointing and falsely based, “It’s sad and somewhat pathetic that someone who was fired from his job at the Department of Justice for encouraging another employee to break the law, break the open records law in this state would continue the lies and deceptions.”
Wall was fired in 2016 for writing a letter to another state employee that suggested he could shred the federal document when he was finished reading it. Such an action would have violated Wisconsin’s open records law and was the basis of Schimel’s firing of Wall’ from his position as Corrections Secretary.
Walker felt that Wall was advised towards theatrics when writing the book. “Overall I think he was clearly advised to come up with the most controversial and elaborate story as possible.”
Despite the book’s release, Walker feels confident in his campaign platform for reelection. Governor Walker continues on his bus tour across Wisconsin until Monday, August 13th. His next stops include Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Neillsville, and Ladysmith.
