WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man accused of hacking and stealing information from Kohl’s will be in court today.
Robert Gordon of Wausau and his wife are in court today for federal charges for illegally obtaining and selling Kohl’s Cash on social media. He and his wife face charges of identity theft, access device fraud, and wire fraud.
Gordon and his wife ran the Twitter account OfficialJigLord, which advertised an ability to “specialize in steals, deals, and jigs.” On that account, Gordon sold Kohl’s Cash he illegally obtained by hacking the Kohl’s database that contained Kohl’s Cash numbers.
Investigators were able to find Gordon after receiving complaints and following a digital trail. That trail led to Gordon and his wife’s IP address.
According to court documents, Gordon and his wife made around $93,000 during a four-month period selling the Kohl’s Cash online.
Gordon faces 45 years in prison and a $750,000 fine if convicted.
