GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Flood victims in Green Bay are reaching out for cleanup help.
Brown County Emergency Management reports about 25 people dialed 211 on Friday, which was the first day the flood-victim service line was available.
Of those who called, seven people asked if volunteers could come to their home and help clean up.
City of Green Bay officials say they condemned about 60 homes after the East River flooded last week.
On Saturday, one woman who said she’s been fortunate enough that she hasn’t had to reach out for help.
“My heart just gets so big, because I think god is here and he’s helping us and sending me all these people and how can I be upset?” said Jane Danen of Green Bay. “I’m blessed because we all got out safely.”
Danen says she’s had help from family, friends, and a lot of strangers too.
Volunteers through the 211 service are also expected to be available to help on Sunday.
