GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Election day is now less than a week away and both candidates for Green Bay Mayor are making a final push to connect with voters.
Eric Genrich and Patrick Buckley participated in a public forum Wednesday night, where they touched on a number of key topics affecting the city.
In the past, Genrich and Buckley have focused on things like infrastructure, taxes and economic development, but during the forum, voters wanted to hear their ideas on improving Green Bay neighborhoods and how they plan to help people in the community.
Homelessness, crime and even immigration were just a few topics brought up and both candidates agreed they were all equally important.
Making Green Bay a safe and inviting place to live is why Genrich and Buckley say they’re running for the position.
“I’m incredibly excited about where we are in as a community. I would not be running for this position if I didn’t think we had a bright future. For me the position of mayor is not a stepping stone, it’s the stone,” said Genrich.
“You cannot do this halfway. Green Bay needs to be a community to retire in and this position is not one you retire into, it really needs to be your full-time commitment and someone who is full time and committed to solving the city’s problems.”
Buckley says he’s just as passionate…
“When I started this quest for mayor, I didn’t know how exciting it would be. I didn’t know how rewarding it would be to go out into the community and talking to people and getting to know people in the neighbors. In our daily life, there’s a lot of hustle and bustle and we don’t know our neighbors as good as we should,” said Buckley.
“Come April 3rd if elected mayor the city of Green Bay is my full-time responsibility because it’s not a job to me. It will be my number one priority and I will devote 150 percent of my time developing and managing the city.”
Genrich and Buckley also made sure to thank voters for their support and reassured residents that whoever becomes mayor will make Green Bay their first priority.
Voters will make the final decision on April 2nd.
