TOWN OF NORRIE, WI (WSAU) – A 19-year-old is facing criminal charges for failing to feed or water his family’s cows while his father was out-of-town. Joshua A. Litza was in Marathon County Court on Friday, where bond was set at $2,500.
He’s charged with two counts of failing to provide food for animals, four counts of failing to dispose of animal remains, and one count of bail jumping.
Marathon County deputies went to the farm in the Town of Norrie last week after getting a report of cattle that had escaped a pen and were in the road. The deputy noticed that other cows on the property were malnourished and that four of the animals had died.
The owner of the farm, John Litza, was working out of town and had left his son in charge. It’s unclear if the father will face charges. His son will be in court for a preliminary hearing on April 8.
