MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) – The finalized purchase of the former Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette was announced on Tuesday.
Advocate Aurora Health has taken full ownership of the Marinette hospital, which will now be called Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area.
“Providing high-quality patient-centered care is at the core of what we do, and this move strengthens our ability to operate more efficiently and effectively so that we can continue to deliver the best and safest care possible,” says Ed Harding, president of Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area, in a news release.
He adds, “This is a great day for the hospital, our team members, and the community.”
In the agreement Advocate Aurora Health contributed $25,000,000.
The company aims at supporting local communities and supporting health and wellness programs at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area.
“The medical center is a community institution. Our team members share a dedication to ensuring its continued role as not just a place of healing but an environment that helps people live well,” says Jeff Bard, executive vice president of North Wisconsin at Advocate Aurora Health, in a news release.
The hospital has operated jointly as Bay Area Medical Center and Aurora Health Care since 2014, before both merged with Illinois company Advocate Health Care last year.
