Schermacher cleared the first two heights of 15 feet 7 inches and 16-0 3/4 on his second attempt on each. He then dislodged the bar on all three attempts at 16-4 3/4. Washington (Mo.) University’s Peter Lichtenberger won the national championship on an attempts tiebreaker with a height of 17-2 3/4.
Schermacher earned second-team All-America honors by placing 16th.
Maranell entered the second day 13th in the seven-event multi but closed to within reaching the top eight and the podium, totaling 4,816 points for her ninth-place finish. Maranell was 18 points shy of reaching the podium and was 71 short of placing sixth. Central College’s Olivia Bohlen was the national champion with 5,158 points.
Maranell, who had 2,830 points on Day 1, opened Day 2 with a long jump of 17 feet 8 inches for 665 points. She followed up with a javelin throw of 104-7 for 512 points. Maranell finished with an 800-meter run time of 2:21.04 for 809 points.
Maranell is a second-team All-American with her ninth-place finish.
Shot put: St. Norbert College junior Jacob Klitzke competed in the shot put at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Klitzke finishes 21st with a best throw of 50 feet 11 inches, coming on is first attempt. Klitzke threw 50-5 3/4 in his second attempts and scratched on his third and final put.
UW-Eau Claire’s Gage Stankiewicz won the national title with a top throw of 61-7.
