GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A developer is continuing to move forward with its proposal to erect three buildings across the street from Lambeau Field.
1835 Ridge Road, which also shares a side with Lombardi Avenue, boasts an impressive view of the stadium.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Green Bay Plan Commission, an amendment to the “planned unit development” was approved. Officials signed off on reducing the number of trees and shrubs that were required to be planted in the area.
The nearly three-acre site used to house single-family homes and an office building, but those were taken down in 2016. The developer is proposing a building with a maximum height of 64 feet along Lombardi Avenue that would include commercial, retail and office uses. A four-story, 24-unit apartment building would go on the corner of Ridge Road and Thorndale. A four-story, eight-unit condo building would be built at Thorndale and Frank streets.
The developer wants to get the project moving.
“One of the reasons we need to do this is because time is of the essence,” said Tim Kuehn, who owns the Ridge Road property. “I have two major national tenants that I’ve basically got a letter of understanding with, and in order to move forward, I’ve got to get these steps done.”
The Lombardi Neighborhood Association, meanwhile, has been pushing for more green space on the property over parking space.
