ASHWAUBENON (WTAQ-WLUK) — A pair of fundraisers have been launched after video of an incident at the Cinnabon stand at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon went viral.
Over the weekend, a Cinnabon employee was fired after she was caught on camera using racial slurs toward a Somali couple.
This couple from Somalia walked into a Cinnabon to buy food and the employee started making fun of the woman’s hijab so they took out their phone & started recording then she called them the N word and admitted to being a racist! She continued to say derogatory things to them too pic.twitter.com/h1CrdEcfA4

The video has garnered tens of millions of views globally across X, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
The two fundraisers are competing against each other. One is in support of the two Somalian customers who recorded the video and the other is for the terminated Cinnabon worker.
So far, the GoFundMe for the Somalian husband and wife has garnered more than $5,000 out of its $45,000 goal. The fundraiser, which was started by a cousin of the couple, identifies one of the customers as Farhia Ahmed.
Hear the story as discussed on the Morning News w/ Matt and Rob Monday morning:
According to the fundraiser’s page, the money raised will be used for legal fees. It’s unclear what legal action is potentially being taken, but the GoFundMe calls it a fight against racism.
Meanwhile, the fundraiser for the former Cinnabon worker, who is white, has raised more than $118,000 of its now $271,301 goal. In this fundraiser’s description, the worker is simply identified as “Crystal.”
The page says donated funds will go toward helping Crystal land on her feet after losing her job. It goes on to say, “No White person should lose their job for refusing to be harassed by Somalians.”
