HOWARD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The charitable foundations of Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and We Energies are marking a new milestone in their support of first responders.
As part of the annual Rewarding Responders Grant program, the foundations awarded the Howard Fire Department and the Grand Chute Fire Department funds to purchase new safety equipment.
The grant program provides funds to first responders to purchase life-saving equipment or critical training to improve safety.
The Howard Fire Department purchased a rapid deployment watercraft to help respond to limited access areas where their regular rescue boat would not be able to get to as easily.
The Grand Chute Fire Department purchased carbon monoxide detectors for their department.
“This is really a continuation of our commitment to the safety of our customers and the communities that we serve each and every day and this is an opportunity for us to say thank you to the brave men and women who are also focused on safety each and every day. In many occasions, we’re working side by side with our police officers, our firefighters, our EMTs to be able to keep people safe at different situations that arise throughout the course of a normal day,” said WPS and We Energies spokesman, Matt Cullen.
Since the grant program’s start in 2014, it has donated more than $1 million to first responders across the state of Wisconsin.
