APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who was not at a house when an Appleton SWAT team responded for a welfare check was arrested Thursday in Green Bay.
Joseph Ware, 41, was arrested by U.S. Marshals. He was wanted on multiple warrants from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Winnebago County and Outagamie County. Appleton police say he had a semi-automatic gun on him when he was arrested.
Online court records show Ware has been charged in Outagamie County with 10 counts, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety, intimidating a victim, being a felon in possession of a firearm, false imprisonment, aggravated battery, possession of THC — the active component of marijuana — and bail jumping.
Police had been looking for Ware since Nov. 16, when a SWAT team was called to a home on Riverdale Drive in Appleton. Officers said then that after one victim safely came out, information led them to believe an armed man was in the area. A search of the house failed to find the man, however.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Appleton police by phone at (920) 832-5540, emailing APDTips@appleton.org or submitting a tip on the department’s website.
