GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin Public Service is powering more homes in northeast Wisconsin using clean energy thanks to the completion of the Red Barn Wind Park in Grant County. The new WPS renewable energy facility with 28 turbines went into service in the week leading up to Easter.
The project can produce 92 megawatts of electricity, which is equal to powering more than 50,000 homes, reports WPS officials.
According to WPS news release, this is the fourth renewable energy project WPS has brought online since 2020. The energy it produces is sent to the grid, providing homes and businesses in northeast and north central Wisconsin with affordable, reliable and clean energy.
“Red Barn Wind Park is another key step in our commitment to build a bright, sustainable future for the customers and communities we serve,” said Scott Lauber, president and CEO — WPS, according to the release. “This facility will provide an important source of clean energy that will maintain reliability, deliver significant savings to our customers and reduce carbon emissions well into the future.”
