BEAVER DAM, WI (WTAQ) – One person is dead and another had to be rescued after an SUV crashed and overturned in the Beaver Dam River Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 2 a.m. near 227 Front St, where upon arrival one person was rescued and another, the passenger, extricated from the overturned vehicle and taken to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
Crews searched the river for an unaccounted two-year-old child after receiving conflicting information on how many people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
A drone strike team with Forward Looking Infrared Radar was called to the scene to help and Beaver Dam Water Utilities were called to stop the flow of the river.
The child was located safe and in the care of relatives around four hours later.
That individual, Jared Frakes of Beaver Dam, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
