APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – After being caught on camera speeding through a roundabout median a 25-year-old Appleton man was ticketed for operating while intoxicated and reckless driving.
The accident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at the intersection of Richmond Street (Highway 47) and Northland Avenue (Highway OO), according to police.
The driver speeds northbound on Richmond Street, drives over the median and in the process takes out a sign.
After hitting the ground on the other side of the roundabout sparks are visible from the man’s car.
The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and was later released.
In 2017, the roundabout was built to replace traffic lights at the intersection on Appleton’s north side.
